First Week With Quinn

Quinn's first week home went very smoothly. She seems to be a very easy, relaxed baby. Thankfully, Grandma took the week off of work and came and helped out every day. It was nice to have her company as well as another set of hands when Daddy had to go teach his classes.
Ellie and Patchy have been great with her. They both love her to pieces but wonder why she is always sleeping. Ellie is always trying to find ways to match her. She wants them to be sisters meaning they have to be wearing the same clothes. I never thought I would be the mom that dresses the girls in the same clothes, but it looks like Ellie might win on that front. We just went to the store and bought their first matching dress, much to Ellie's delight. She is going to have lots of fun with her sis. Patchy is hilarious with her. He likes to get in her face and make funny faces. He has taken control of her pacifier. He always wants to put in in her mouth. He wants to hold her and when he does he is finished within 30 seconds. The first day we brought her home and asked him what her name was, he said "Wreck it Ralph" a few times. He also made it clear he was still the baby.  He is the 'big baby' and Quinn is the 'baby baby'. I am so happy that it seems like the kids are loving towards her and enjoy having her around.

Our Little Quinn

We are all so happy that Quinn is here!! She was well worth the wait. The Dr. had my due date down as March 9th. I went to a regular appointment on the 13th and he sent me over for non stress tests and an ultrasound to make sure everything looked good. He said those tests were usually good for 4 days so I could decide if I wanted to be induced on the 17th or just do another round of testing. We decided to go ahead and be induced. None of the Trone babies have come on their own so it wasn't surprising. The induction was very smooth. I only felt contractions for a short time before they put the epidural in. Dr. Szmuc broke my water and before we knew it, it was pushing time. I only had to do 2 big pushes. Push one, the head came out. Push 2...Daddy told me it was a girl! I was so excited. Quinn Marie Trone was born. She was 71b 8oz and 20 inches long. Ellie and Patrick were over at Auntie Angie's with Grandma so it was fun to be able to call them and let them know they had a sister. The kids stayed with Grandma and Papa one night and then Daddy stayed home with them one night. Grandpa was Quinn's first visitor. He arrived at the hospital just as he got the call that she was born. Greg, Chloe, Grandma, Ellie and Patchy all came in the next day. It was so fun to show the kids their new little sister. They loved her right away.
Quinn was a little difficult in the hospital. She was a bit fussy and didn't want to latch on. I was a little worried wondering how I was going to handle a fussy baby with Patchy and Ellie. Thankfully, she settled in just perfectly in the chaos of our home. She just wanted to be home with her family... just like mommy. 

Our Mountain Biker

Daddy took Ellie on her first mountain bike ride. She did awesome! She hung in there even after some crashes. She wants to go again. Looking forward to riding with her on some fun trails in Colorado this summer. Great job Ellie!

                 

Before there were 3...

I wanted to write down some things about Ellie and Patchy before the baby arrives. It is so much fun watching them play together (when they are having fun and getting along). They are always goofing around and somebody usually does end up hurt but we still let them go at it. They chase each other around the house, tackle, hug, shoot each other and get on each others nerves. I am sure it is a pretty typical sibling relationship but we certainly feel lucky that they seem to really enjoy each other for the most part. They transitioned into sharing a room together pretty easily. There were some rough days, mostly about Patchy not going on the top bunk but now Ellie lets him up there...when she is in the mood. =) I think they are so sweet to each other and I love it. Of course, there are times when Ellie is mean to Patchy and bosses him around a lot. I hear "NO PATCH" a million times a day but he seems to roll with it. He adores his big sis...that's for sure. He can also be the bad guy taking something from Ellie and running around with it making her mad. He knows exactly how to push her buttons...and he thinks it is funny.

 

 

Patchy, you are the sweetest. You come into our room every night, mostly in the early hours of the morning. You are such a little snuggle bug. I love that your nostrils are so little that you can't even pick your nose. You are often in la la land pretending to be a baby tiger or dog and you have to feed all of the little animals that live under our couch. You like to come up and lick our faces. You love sports, especially basketball. You are obsessed with Sparky, the ASU mascot. You have also recently started to run around the house pretending to shoot things with your hands and if we pretend to shoot you back, you have the best playing dead act ever. It is so funny!

You are going to be such a good big brother. He/She will be lucky to have you because you are so sweet and caring. I know you will always look after your siblings. But, I am a little worried because you are super super attached to your mommy. Hopefully the transition goes well! You are such a sweet boy and we love you! 

 

 

Ellie, you are convinced that this baby is a girl. You really really want it to be a girl. For a long time you said her name was going to be Julia. Whether it is a boy or a girl they are lucky to have you around because you continue to be constant source of entertainment. You are always jumping around the house and singing and dancing or finding new creative ways to play outside. You have Patchy doing the same and I know the next baby will probably follow along when he/she can. You love going to Wilkins and gymnastics. You are doing so well. You are on a big Frozen kick with a little West Side story thrown in there. You are such a special spunky fun little lady and we love you!
