Food!

Patrick,
We gave you your first meal of rice cereal this week and you LOVED it. You little maniac. I think it took your sister weeks before she actually even ate the food. You were scarfing it right down on the first try. When some gets on your hands you suck it right off your fingers...especially your thumb. You must think the food comes out of your thumb too. We can see you getting fatter by the minute. You did such a good job eating at your first feeding that we even let Ellie get in on some of the action. This made her very happy because she has attempted to nurse you on a few occasions. She was so excited to be able to feed you for real. She was so proud to be such a good big sister.

Denver

We went to Denver with Grandma last weekend for Emilie's baby shower and to visit with our Denver family. I loved having this quality time with Patrick. He was such a good little traveler. He slept good chunks both ways. When he did get a little ancy we put down the tray tables and a blanket and laid him across them. He was happy to stretch out. I was happy to have Grandma there...what a big help!

We were lucky to be able to spend time with all of the Sullivans. Patrick met his namesakes, Uncle Pat and cousin Pat. Aunt Kelley cooked us some delicious meals. Patrick got some fun cousin lovin from all the Sullivan kiddos. He also got to see snow for the first time...something his big sis has yet to experience.

It was a bonus to be able to spend time with all the Sullivans since the main purpose of the trip was to celebrate Baby Nickoloff and attend Emilie's baby shower.  We had fun with Emilie's mom, sister and aunts preparing for the shower the night before. Since I had Patrick I wasn't too much of a help but sitting around drinking wine and gabbing away was a treat for me! It was fun to see Dave and Em with Patrick and picture them holding their little one in a few months. They are going to be great parents. Thanks for the trip guys, I am so happy I was able to be part of such a wonderful shower.

Emilie and I have been best friends since we were little girls. We have seen each other through many phases of life. I think this one...mommyhood...is the best. I can't wait for her to join me in this phase and meet the little guy/gal who makes her a mommy.

Open Gym

Ellie, your gymnastics class through the city ended so we started taking you to open gym so you can explore on your own. It is so funny to watch you zoom around the gym. You get so excited to do everything and your little legs get going so fast as you run from one thing to the next. Some days you bounce all the way down the trampoline track right into the pit. Other days you are more hesitant and slowly inch yourself down into the pit. You love walking across the balance beam and hanging upside down on the bars. You take advantage of the full hour and are happy as can be to top it off with a lollipop as you leave.

4 Months

Patrick,
You are 4 months old now! It is so fun to watch you changing as the days roll by. You are a happy and content boy...easily amused. You are trying to grab everything. When you do grasp something, it goes right towards your mouth. I have never seen a baby get as much joy out of those little goofy baby toys as you do. Whenever we lay you down you roll on your belly within 10 seconds. You haven't really figured out how to roll back so you get mad when you get stuck on your belly. You found your toes a few days ago which has opened up a whole new world for you. You were sucking your big toe in the bathtub last night.  I love watching you smile at Elise. You watch her like a hawk. You have this very serious confused look on your face as you stare at things and people and take it all in. You are a little champ because you get carted around to all of Elise's little play dates, gymnastics, library times, etc. and you don't fuss. I feel bad for you because Elise likes to screech as loud as she can just to get a reaction out of you. You often spaz out with your arms flinched out to the sides and then she laughs.....but then you smile so she thinks you like it and she does it again. Never ending cycle. The other day when we were changing you she pointed out that there was play dough in your belly button. I have also found you decorated with stickers. You get called all sorts of things from Packy to Patchy to Patsy. You are still a cuddly little guy. I love it. If Elise is taking a nap during the day and you fall asleep in my arms I love sitting there and holding you. You are just so sweet.
We love you!
