We had a fun Halloween night! Like always, Ellie had numerous costumes in mind. This year she was focused on superheroes and villains. She was set on being Wonder Woman for a couple of months but then she changed to Cat Woman a few days before Halloween. I think she had already worn her Wonder Woman costume so much all the days before that she wanted something different. Thankfully, Ellie treats everyday like Halloween so all of her costumes get plenty of use. Patrick is easy. He was happy to be Batman. He was so fun to trick or treat with. He never lost the excitement of getting candy from each house. He was interested in all of the decorations. He stopped and talked to each of the big blow up decorations. He even tried to give the blow up witch down the street all of his candy on the way home. He was taking it all in while Ellie was on a mission to get as much candy as possible.

Ellie had a Tee Ball practice on Halloween. They had them wear their costumes. Here is Cat Woman getting a big hit.
Ellie was spoiled this year with 2 parties. She wanted to have a Hula party at our house and she wanted to invite her whole preschool class and her other friends. So we decided to have a separate party for her preschool friends because I didn't want too big of a party at the house. On Ellie's birthday we went to the pumpkin patch and invited her preschool friends. Ellie invited her teacher, Mrs. Bontrager, and the owner of the preschool, Mrs. Wilkins. Both of them came. This made all the kids so happy! It was a small celebration but it was tons of fun. The pumpkin patch had bounce houses, hay ride, pumpkin decorating, mazes and animals. It was an easy party...all we had to do was bring pizza and cake!
Ellie had been planning on a hula party with our family and playgroup friends at our house for months. I think the movie Lilo and Stitch inspired her love of hula. She practiced a special hula dance that she wanted to perform for everyone for weeks. Unfortunately, Ellie had strep throat and we had to postpone the party for a week. Daddy gave Ellie an early birthday present because she a little bummed but she really was too sick to even be that upset about the party being cancelled.
Thankfully, most of our friends and family could make the party the next week. It was a fun day. Ellie got to perform her hula while some of her little buddies played the music along her. They danced the limbo, had sack races, clobbered a piñata and Auntie Angie did her face painting magic.

You are 4 years old already and I feel like soon...you will be able to write this blog! You are already telling people that you are almost 5. You need to slow down, it is going so fast!
You are SO MUCH FUN! So full of personality. We never know what you are going to dress up as or who you are going to be on any given day. The ladies at the grocery store say that we don't need a TV in our house because you are entertainment enough. There are times that I have to ask you to just please be Ellie because you are always saying and pretending you are somebody else. Today, when I took you to school you were Tinkerbell in disguise because you know you aren't allowed to wear wigs or costumes to school. So we had to figure out what Tinkerbell would wear if she was dressing up to go to school.
I don't think you know how to sit still unless you are very sleepy. Even when you are supposed to be resting and watching a show, you will watch that show upside down on the couch, or jumping, or climbing all over. Your energy is crazy.
You love preschool. Your teacher, Mrs. Bontrager called me and told me that you are the sweetest girl. She said that at preschool you are nice to everyone and you share, and you are smart. She told Daddy that you were the whole package at Daddy Date night. When parents volunteer in the classroom, they tell me that you are the biggest sweetheart. This surprises us but makes us soooo happy. I guess its good that you know how to leave the grumpy side of you home with us! Three was a challenging year with you and your moods and spazzes but you have definitely begun growing out of that and are gaining a little more control.
You are still in gymnastics and they recently asked you to join their Devo program...which is kind of like a pre team. You are also playing Tee Ball right now and you love that. You also talk about wanting to do karate, soccer, dance, football and much more. You want to do it all!
Some big developments around the house are that you sleep with the lights off and you take showers. You like to get out of the shower and twist your hair up in a towel just like I do. You are also doing better at picking up messes and making your bed. You love learning, practicing letters, writing letters and drawing. You are starting to become a good little doodler and you love puzzles.
You are very fun to have a conversation with. You remember everything and ask questions about everything. I love it because if you hear a word that you don't know so you always ask what it means. Then I will find you trying to use the word in a sentence pretty soon after.
Your favorite movies these days are all the Disney movies, SharkBoy and LavaGirl and the real old Batman. This movie is what began your new infatuation with superheroes. You started talking about Wonder Woman all the time. Mommom sent you some fun Wonder Woman outfits and you are really into that. You get really obsessed with things. You are also infatuated with Katy Perry. You love wearing colorful wigs and dancing around the house. You perform her songs for us all of the time. People can't believe how you keep a wig on your head. You wear them everywhere right now.
Your eating habits haven't changed much. You hate cheese. You love yogurt. You could live off of yogurt and cereal and chicken with honey. You do a good job eating fruit and love plums and peaches. The other day I looked over at you during dinner and you were eating your veggies. I told you that was great and you said that you might not like the way they taste but you are going to eat them anyways because they will make you strong. I like that attitude!
You love a boy named Jack. He is a little guy from our playgroup but he is an older boy and is in 1st grade so he is usually in school when we get together with his mom and little brother. It is a big treat for you when Jack is around and you are pretty set on the idea that you are going to marry Jack. Jack is a sweetheart and totally plays with you when he is around.
Your best friend is still Mia. You guys get along so well together. You both take turns being the bossy ones, you guys have different interests but each do what the other wants. You love sleepovers.
You are a good big sister to your brother. You guys are having fun together. You will even tell him that he is so cute! It is unfortunate because sometimes he wants to cuddle you and you want nothing to do with him, or there are times that you go to cuddle him and he smacks your face. I love watching you two together.
You started to develop a little potty mouth and were dropping the F bomb on a regular basis. Ignoring it wasn't working so we sat down and had a big talk about the words that you weren't allowed to say. Thankfully, there has been a major improvement!
Oh we just love you to pieces, Ellie girl. You bring so much laughter and joy to us on a daily basis!!!

Ellie has been quite the little hula girl around the house. It is certainly her latest thing. She wears this outfit a few times a week. Once she gets an idea in her head, she goes all in. She wants to look the part and takes it very seriously. She was preparing a hula dance that she wanted to perform at her birthday party on this particular day.
We went to a really fun pumpkin patch with 2 of the families from Ellie's preschool. There was so much to do there. Patchy loved the giant tube slide. Ellie was actually to scared to go down it at first, but after she watched her little brother a few times, she decided to give it a try and ended up loving it. There was a big giant air pillow that the kids and parents could jump on. They were able to ride a little train and ride pretend bouncy horses. We then took all the tired and hungry kiddos out to dinner and they allll did really great! It was a nice way to kick off the pumpkin season.
